Definition: 

Ski jumping is a sport. An athlete skis down a straight slope, and launches off a jump. The athlete strives to go as far through the air as possible, while maintaining sufficient balance to make a graceful landing. Along with biathlon, cross country skiing, and Nordic combined, it is part of the Nordic family of events at the Winter Olympics.
