Project Design
In this section, I will provide a description of the way the Vidtionary project is being designed and how the content is being created. I will first outline the format of a Vidtionary video definition. I will then detail some of the software by which the video definitions are created. Related to the creation of the videos is a discussion of where the images and sounds used in the videos come from. This in turn leads to a quick look at copyright issues, including a look at alternatives to traditional copyright. These aspects all relate to the creation of the videos, while the creation of a container for the videos enabling searching and viewing of the videos is also important. Thus, subsequent subsections will look at the development of the Vidtionary website and explain how and where the videos are hosted online. Not to be forgotten is the audience, or the ‘users’ as Internet designers often refer to a site’s visitors. I look at how Vidtionary might be used and by whom.
